The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur was secretly — and illegally — keeping aside a discretionary admission quota for children of its teachers and staff for over four decades, admitting dozens of students to seats they failed to secure through the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination - Read further here at Hindustan Times.
That is what has happened, of all places, at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. For over 40 years now, it has now been discovered, the faculty at IIT-Kharagpur have been giving special preference to their own children in admissions to the prestigious institution. They did not have to compete with the rest — more privileged or less. While at one level the faculty has fought caste quotas in higher studies, they have been quietly using quotas for their own children. (From Business Standard)

Could you please confirm if the quota for IITKGP faculty was in BTech? I heard it is in Science-courses and not BTech courses. Please confirm before spreading half-truths if any.
PS:
As you know Kharagpur is famous for its longest platform in India and only that. In order to support children of staff of IIT-KGP, this scheme was introduced those days.
Thanks Avis for leaving comments.
There are three links available in my post. If you visit those you would have noticed this sentence there,
"blocked 25 per cent of its seats in popular five-year integrated science courses"
Moreover, the point here is "illegal" aspect that has been brought out by RTI. They also call it "secret quota".
It is not clear to me what is "half-truth" part. The blog post has never claimed anything. It gave links for further reading.
If you have any information that sheds some light on this issue of "illegality" and "secret quota", please provide if you wish.
